About Kaveri Pushkaralu:
Pushkaram is a holy festival that is celebrated once in every 12 years at each of the 12 major rivers of India, the Kaveri is one among them.
The birth place of the Kavri river in the Brahmagiri hills at Talakaveri, Kodagu in Karnataka at an altitude of 1350 meters, flows generally from south direction to east direction through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and merges into Bay of Bengal through two principal mouths in Poompuhar, Tamil Nadu. The river is approximately 760 km long

Cauvery Pushkaram, a 12-day festival of worshipping the river is held once in 12 years. Every 12th year Jupiter’s entry into the constellation Libra(Tula rasi) marks the Pushkaram for Kaveri. The celebrations include reverence of ancestors, spiritual discourses, devotional music and cultural programmes.

Kaveri Pushkaralu starts form 12th September 2017 to 23rd September 2017 which is also called as 'Maha Kumbha Mela' comes once in every 144 years.
